Devin White

Devin T. White is a team leader at the Racial Revolutionary Inclusive Guidance for Health Throughout STEM (R-RIGHTS) and a doctoral candidate in the School of Education at Johns Hopkins University. Devin researches the barriers and supports for Black students and faculty in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) fields. His dissertation focuses on the experiences of Black graduate student-parents (BGSPs) in STEM education, investigating the structural challenges and systemic inequities they encounter in engineering and computing (E&C) doctoral programs. His research also extends to equity ethics in STEM, racial activism in higher education, and the underrepresentation of Black faculty in STEM disciplines. Previously, as part of the Explorations into Diversifying Engineering Faculty Initiative (EDEFI), Devin has contributed to studies revealing the stagnant representation of Black faculty in engineering (2.5%) and the racialized stress that Black STEM scholars navigate. Ultimately, Devin is committed to amplifying the voices of Black STEM scholars and creating institutional change through research, mentorship, and public scholarship. His future work aims to recruit and train the next generation of Black STEM researchers, develop inclusive research labs, and leverage digital platforms to disseminate accessible scholarship to Black students and faculty.
