Black Joy in STEM: A Catalyst for Change and Resistance

Black students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) face daunting challenges beyond the complexity of their academic studies. These disciplines, often misperceived as value-neutral, are riddled with systemic biases that marginalize Black voices and sideline their contributions. The historical erasure of Black achievements in STEM reflects a broader pattern of intellectual theft and structural violence perpetrated by white supremacy. We need a new vision that compels us to confront and dismantle the legacy of white supremacy in STEM, replacing it with a technological ecosystem that celebrates and elevates Black knowledge, experience, and identity.
